Despite being in one of the most well-known parts of Pale di San Martino and offering an incredible view, Forcèlla Sédole is an alternative and not very frequented route.
difficult
Distance 11 km
The road to reach the Forcella (forcella is a type of mountain pass) once you have left path No. 709 is rather technical with a terrain that is at times unstable but all in all not dangerous, since both sides are protected and there is no risk of fall. Once you leave path No. 709 and climb over the first forcella, the view over Valle di Primiero offered by the crossing over the natural terrace leading to Forcèlla Sédole will leave you breathless. Although the Sédole path is not considered a via ferrata, some sections of it are equipped with nails, steps, and fixed ropes.
Author’s recommendation
The ideal time to face the loop is the second half of summer, because once you leave path No. 709 (which leads to Rifugio Pradidali) you have to face a long gully mainly in the shade that at the beginning of summer could still have some snow on the ground.
