Classic trail to the southern parts of the Primiero valley on the borders with Veneto and the Province of Belluno one passes through characteristic and strikingly beautiful scenery, from the Schener valley down to Pontet, then onto a dirt road up to the Vederna alp, then under the Vette Feltine chain of mountains, with Mount Pavione, the Alpine huts, pastures, the forests of the Noana valley and finally the return to Fiera di Primiero after the uphill climb through the Val de Riva valley, a natural wonder where the crystalline water and views of the Dolomites compensate for all that hard effort exerted.

Turn-by-turn directions

The starting point is from the APT tourist office in Fiera di P, to get to the cycle path, cross the footbridge over the Cismon Torrent (wpt.2-3), turn R, continue for 300m., and then follow the cycle path to Imer (wpt.6). At the roundabout turn L and immediately over the bridge turn R (wpt.7-8). Follow the dirt road, always keep to the R, and continue first on the dirt road then on single track up to the main SS.50 road (wpt.10). Here turn L and continue along the road to Pontet (take care in tunnels). Before the viaduct, (wpt.11), turn L and follow the dirt road up to the Vederne Alpine hut (10.20km, wpt.12. At the 17.30km mark, you can fill up with water at Val Cesila). At the crossroads continue straight on, downhill for about 200m, then keep to the R (possibility to return down to Imer here wpt.13) and keep on the main dirt road for about 8 km, first uphill then downhill, apart from the central part of about a 500 m climb. When you get to the valley Val Carbonere (wpt.15, possible return route down to Mezzano) be careful not to miss the single track that goes off uphill to the R and takes you to the forestry hut of the Val Piana valley (water fountain). Keep straight on, towards the Val Piana-Fonteghi Alpine hut, first on dirt road, then once at the dwellings in the Val Piana di Sopra (wpt.17), there in front of you in the meadow take the path in the direction of the Fonteghi Alpine hut (technical downhill stage). At the hut you can return to the valley via the main Val Noana valley road, or turn left and then cross the bridge, at the junction turn L, continue for 100m, then turn R onto path (wpt.20) that goes downhill towards the Val Noana Lake. The final part of the path has to be done on foot, then cross the footbridge over the Noana Torrent, climb uphill on the steep mule track to the area called Iner (wpt.21). Go downhill for about 200m, then turn R, taking the narrower road (Fedai wpt.23), continue for about 800m, at the junction turn L (wpt.24)and keep on the road past the junction (wpt.25 Cantarei) down to the village of Transacqua, where in a short distance you arrive back at your start point.
