High altitude trail that starts and ends at Rifugio Caltena (1260 m a.s.l.), a hiking hut and excellent restaurant in an enchanting location, with a broad view of the Vette Feltrine mountain range.
Distance 9.7 km
The route uncovers mountain pastures, huts and a rural activity that is still going strong today and has allowed the preservation of this typical Alpine environment. Along the the “Cordognè – San Giovanni” theme trail you climb up, pushing the bike in the first part, all the way to the ridge, but the interesting signs and the beautiful views both on the Vette Feltrine and the Pale di S. Martino side will amply repay the effort. It is also possible to start from the village of Transacqua and go up the road that climbs to Rifugio Caltena; in this case, however, the route includes an approx. 4 km climb, with steep slopes that make it suitable only for trained people. Non-signposted trail .
In order to avoid situations that may endanger their own and other people’s safety, bikers are asked to be particularly careful in case of men at work in the wood and interrupted trail. For riding this tour in safety, you can contact the Primiero Bike School visiting the following website: www.primierobike.com

Having parked your car in the spacious car park, go downhill towards the valley for about 1.5 km as far as the “Le Vale” holiday farm accommodation (wpt 03), where you turn left onto a tarmacked road towards Fedai (wpt 05). At the fork, go uphill to the left on the tarmacked road for about 100m, then right, following the signs of the “Cordognè” thematic trail (wpt 08) which takes you uphill, pushing your bike on the first part. When you reach the ridge, stay on the right, pedalling on the path, which is technical in places, and offers amazing views of the mountainside of the Vette Feltrine peaks and the Pala mountain range. After two kilometres, you go downhill to the town of Falasorni (wpt 10), where you rejoin the tarmacked road on the right and continue downhill for about 1km. Keep an eye out for a path on the left (wpt 11) which takes you on a flat section to the town of S. Giovanni (wpt 12). At the fork in the town of Poit (wpt 12), continue left and after about 50m, stay on the right and continue on towards Caltene as far as the fork for Val Giasinozza (wpt 15), where you follow the dirt-track to the right until you reach a big bend. Turn left here uphill (wpt 16). After 100m near the aqueduct, take the path on the left, most of which is suitable for bikes, and which takes you back to your departure point after a short stretch. You can also set off from the town on Transacqua, following the route which goes up to the Rifugio Caltena. In this case, the trail starts at wpt. 03, at Le Vale: The ascent, although short, about 4km, is very steep and so recommended for very fit people only.
