Enjoy a stunning 360 view from the highest point at Valsorda pass, where the sights range from the Pale di San Martino to Cima D’Asta and the Lagorai mountain range, with valleys reminiscent of American mountains

Author’s recommendation

DIFFICULT trail for E-MTBs The ascents faced are challenging, especially the final ascent to the Valsorda pass where the irregular ground does not always allow for cycling. If you take the cable car to reach the start point, the uphill altitude difference is not excessive, but the trail is still long and thus it is important to manage the charge level carefully.

Safety information

In order to avoid situations that may endanger their own and other people’s safety, bikers are asked to be particularly careful in case of men at work in the wood and interrupted trail.

Please note that the practicability of the itineraries in a mountain environment is strictly linked to the contingent conditions and is therefore influenced by natural phenomena, environmental changes and weather conditions. For this reason, the information contained in this page may have changed. Before leaving for a tour, make sure the path you will approach is still accessible by contacting the owner of the mountain hut, the alpine guides or the visitor centres of the nature parks, the info offices of the local tourist board.

Turn-by-turn directions

From the arrival of the Tognola cable car at an altitude of 2200m, follow the forest track downhill until Malga Tognola, at 1988m a.s.l. From here, to the left of the pasture, follow the directions until you reach the Valsorda forest house. The path has recently been improved and equipped with wooden walkways to better traverse the marshy ground before entering the Valsorda woods, enjoying an excellent flow. Take care on the final part before the forest house, which is a bit more technically challenging (S3). At the crossroads, turn left and head up towards Malga Valsora (1918m a.s.l.), following the forest road. The ascent brings you above the pasture, where the E390 path becomes less pronounced until you reach the Valsorda pass (2094m a.s.l.). This section is quite challenging as the bike needs to be carried for about 20 minutes until reaching the pass. From here, after a short crossing on the left, follow path E344 and then the trail leading to the locality of Mezzavalle di Zortea (1000m a.s.l.).

RETURN TO SAN MARTINO DI CASTROZZA

1) At the crossroads with Trail 2272 , not far above the Mezzavalle locality, follow the trail to return to San Martino di Castrozza;

2) From Zortea, proceed above and along the main road until Passo Gobbera. The Via Nova path starts from here and reaches the village of Primiero and ends at Fiera di Primiero (717m a.s.l.), slightly downhill.

From here, take a bus or taxi to San Martino di Castrozza or ascend to the Pezze Alte locality (990m a.s.l.), where the forest road starts that passes through Dismoni (1200m a.s.l.), Malga Crel, and returns to San Martino di Castrozza (1467m a.s.l.);

3) A public transport system operates from Zortea (check the Trentino Trasporti timetable during the summer season), alternatively there is a private Taxi service.

Der Trail ist super schön, allerdings erschliesst sich mir die Einstufung als S3 nicht. Bei der Rückfahrt über den See gibt es kurz nach dem See deftige Abschnitte die ich als S2-S3 einstufen würde.
