It is the final part of the trail of the Primiero Dolomiti Marathon. It winds from San Martino di Castrozza and passes alongside the lake Calaita, to then arrive in the centre of Fiera di Primiero.

Author’s recommendation

This is a trail, albeit of a significant length, not particularly challenging as it has an elevation gain of 450 m and an elevation loss of about 1200. Be careful in the downhill parts that lead to an increase of speed. The road is not always smooth.

The trail starts from the centre of San Martino di Castrozza. After passing through the town northward, passing near Malga Crel, you go through a forest road on rolling terrain for about 7 km. Once you leave the forest road, you take an uphill path that allows us to gain altitude to reach lake Calaita by crossing a suggestive Campigolo (a small valley) where cows and other wildlife often graze. Calaita is one of the most beautiful places of Primiero. Past the lake you walk towards the Gobbera Pass through paths and forest roads to then take the Via Nova which will take you on a slightly downhill path to the center of Fiera di Primiero.
